Experts in selling your business

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What can I expect to happen at my first meeting with The Stevenz Group?
A: We will spend time to educate you on how the selling process actually works. We'll provide a "high-level" view of the steps required to successfully sell a business.

Q: I've heard about a "rule of thumb" that I like. Can we use this to arrive at my asking price?
A: If you truly want to increase your chances of selling, we must go far beyond any one "rule of thumb". The best way to establish an asking price that will attract serious buyers is to know the specific data for businesses like yours that have recently SOLD. Careful attention is paid to match similar size businesses to yours so that we do not arrive at an unrealistic asking price that will end your chances of selling before we have begun.

Q: What if you've never sold my particular type of business? Shouldn't I list only with a broker who has direct experience selling a business like mine?
A: In almost all cases, the size of your business will be more important in choosing the right broker that the business type. If you select a broker that focuses on larger businesses than yours, even if they have experience in your business type, you will not likely be a priority for their firm. Also, the types of buyers they attract will probably not match up with your offering. If you select a broker that deals primarily in much smaller transactions than yours, you will not likely get the kind of professional approach needed to complete the sale.

Q: I'm very concerned that my competitors, clients and employees will find out that I'm selling. This could do serious damage to my business. How can you protect me while finding serious buyers?
A: We know how to attract buyers without revealing your identity. In most cases, you will know who the buyer is prior to the buyer learning who you are. Our confidential report on your business will tell a potential buyer everything he needs to know, without revealing your identity.

Q: How likely is it that my business will sell?
A: We maximize your chances of selling by addressing all the elements of a transaction: selling price, deal structure, transitional support and training, portability of existing contracts and relationships, and property lease or purchase factors, to name just a few.

Q: I own a business and would like to grow through acquisition. Do you ever represent buyers like me?
A: Yes - although we primarily work on the sell side, we do offer programs for existing business owners who would like to hire us to locate acquisition opportunities. Give us a call and we can discuss this further.
